There are four levels of access restrictions available to geospatial data publishers:
Public (Recommended)
Data is made available openly to users. Users won't need to register an account to access Data Services (e.g. WMS, WFS, ESRI APIs). Users will need to register a free account to access Data Downloads (e.g. Shapefile, MapPackage)
- Usage reporting for Data Services is limited to Consumption (number of hits, number of unique users) due to no user information being required
- Usage reporting for Data Downloads includes User Tracking (number of downloads, name and email address of each user)
Public (Registration Required)
Users are required to register for an account to access Data Services (e.g. WMS, WFS, ESRI APIs) and Data Downloads (e.g. Shapefile, MapPackage). Data will not be included in SLIP public services, Locate, NationalMap and other platforms due to the registration requirement. Not recommended unless your agency is required by policy to track the names and personal details of individual data users.
